Shye Gilad

Shye Gilad is a Professor of the Practice at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business. Gilad has educated and coached thousands of students, executives, entrepreneurs, and airline pilots to successful outcomes and provided strategic insights on leadership and innovation for global companies and agencies such as Capital One, Siemens, JetBlue Airways, and the US Department of State.

An advocate for entrepreneurial leadership, he has founded multiple startups in the air transportation and education industries. As co-host of the Business Owners Radio podcast, Shye shares insights, practices, and tools to help entrepreneurs succeed in business and life. Gilad holds an MBA from Georgetown University, and a Certificate in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown's School of Transformative Leadership, with a PCC from the International Coach Federation. A former Airline Captain, Gilad holds a BS in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

 

J.D. Englehart

J.D. Englehart is an Investment Associate In-Q-Tel Inc. (IQT), the nonprofit strategic investor that accelerates the development and delivery of cutting-edge technologies to the U.S. government agencies that keep our nation safe. In that role, he sources, evaluates, and executes investments in early-stage enterprise software companies that have dual-use relevance to national security missions. Previously at IQT, J.D. was a Senior Program Manager working to maximize the return on the technology of IQT’s investments. He is an MBA graduate of the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, where he was a student in the inaugural Hacking4Defense class and was a venture fellow for Lavrock Ventures and Razor’s Edge Ventures, two national security-focused VC firms. He began his career in government contracting and is a graduate of Washington & Lee University.

Charlotte H. Rhee

Charlotte H. Rhee is a Director of Business Development at Peraton. She is responsible for driving new business growth and manages a variety of complex telecommunications programs. Charlotte brings over 23 years of professional experience in program management. As a former USSOCOM acquisition professional, she specialized in Cyber, Electronic Warfare and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities. Charlotte was in Defense Acquisition University (DAU)’s first Executive Program Manager’s H4D pilot in 2017. She has volunteered at DAU and at Georgetown University since as a military and industry mentor. Charlotte holds an MBA from Baruch College, City of New York, a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Boston University, is a certified Program Management Professional and Certified Scrum Master and volunteers at the Global Special Operations Forces Foundation which aims to grow an international network of military, government, commercial and educational stakeholders.

Justin Fanelli

Justin Fanelli is the Chief Architect of Defense Medical Intelligence Data, Technical Director for Navy Manpower, Personnel, Training and Education (MPTE), Executive Lead for Navy's Digital Transformation in 5G and DevSecOps.  Within Defense Healthcare, Mr Fanelli's teams are working towards a one-stop data enterprise for revolutionized healthcare and research outcomes. Within the Navy, Justin is leading the Information Technology transformation of personnel operations across the Service. Across the two functions, Mr Fanelli oversees 500+ systems and $1 billion in funding. Justin serves in supplementary roles as an advisor on Cloud, AI/ML, and Transformations. Prior to these roles, Justin served as a Service Chiefs Fellow at the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA) where his focus areas were human-machine teaming, system of systems, artificial intelligence and cyber and his responsibilities included problem generation, framing, research and transition. Previous roles served included Principal Engineer for Navy Enterprise Business Systems, including continuous operations to over 400,000 active and reserve Sailors, both ashore and afloat, and Chief Systems Engineer for Department of Defense (DOD) Command and Control (C2), across 100+ sites worldwide.

 

Away from DOD, Mr. Fanelli teaches IT courses at Marymount University and advises and invests in startups.  He holds a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, a Masters degree in Electrical and Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and is a Senior Executive Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School. He is certified in Lean Six Sigma, Agile Development, GIAC Security Leadership, Defense Acquisition University Engineering and Program Management, has served as Philadelphia Mayor’s Commission on Technology (MCOT) Board Member, North Catholic High School Alumni Association President, currently serves as an advisor to National Science Foundation startups, Cornerstone Schools Executive Board Member, volunteer and speaker at TechImpact and AFCEA and is a member of the Cosmos Club. His awards include National Intelligence Meritorious Unit Citation, Civilian Exemplary Achievement Award, Secretary of the Navy’s Innovation Award, Project Management Institute's Project of the Year, Federal Health IT Innovation Award and he is a member of the FedHealth 100. He lives in Arlington, VA and would love your book recommendations.

Nate Hughes

Nate Hughes is the Vice President for Research at Second Front Systems, where he and his team support national security customers with insights about technology and innovation. A Marine Corps veteran, he previously stood up the military analysis practice at Strategic Forecasting, a geopolitical intelligence firm providing strategic analysis and forecasting of global events. Known as STRATFOR, he ultimately oversaw all research, analysis, and publishing operations. He holds a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Computer Science from Georgetown University and a BA in English Literature from Lewis & Clark College.

 

Kathryn Harris

Kathryn Harris has held leadership positions in technology across industry and government, including at Improbable, Govini, and serving as Senior Advisor to two Vice Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Special Assistant to two Secretaries of Defense, among other senior roles. She holds a BS from the University of Virginia in Aerospace Engineering and an MA with honors from Georgetown University in Security Studies. Kathryn also serves as President-Elect of the Board of Trustees at UVA's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. She is also a Term Member at the Council on Foreign Relations.

Paul Schauer

Paul Schauer is Vice President of Portfolio Operations and Integration at Voyager Space Holdings and the co-founder (and co-host) of the Contracting Officer Podcast, a free weekly resource providing ground level acquisition knowledge to everyone in the GovCon world. He held senior management and executive level positions in the Government and at major defense contractors over 25 years as an acquisition and contracting professional. Paul is well versed in all facets of the government acquisition process from both a government and contractor perspective; including acquisition/bid strategy, source selection, pricing, acquisition policy, negotiation, and cradle-to-grave management of complex government contracts.

Andrew Maloney

Andrew is an Associate in cybersecurity with Booz Allen Hamilton. For the last year, he has been responsible for product management and development for his current government client. He brings more than 7 years of cybersecurity and intelligence expertise. Before his current assignment, he served as the Senior and Lead Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst within the Pentagon J2 Directorate of Intelligence. He led analysis of global cyber threats to the U.S., publishing strategic products, and briefing the J2 on behalf of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of Defense on strategic developments of state and non-state threat actors in the run-up to the 2020 U.S. Presidential Elections. Before that, he served as a Senior Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst and covered Iran, North Korea, and Yemen. He has also worked with the Department of the Treasury and IRS on developing new software and technologies to help combat global tax evasion.

In addition to his primary roles, he has also served as a mentor, career manager, recruiter, and supported contract proposal development. He also volunteered as support to the University of Chicago's Election Cyber Surge project to lend cybersecurity expertise and consulting to local and state entities defending against state and non-state cyber threats to election networks during the 2020 U.S. Presidential Elections.

He holds two degrees from Marquette University in history and politics and law and several certifications in Agile software development, hacking, and Scrum software management. He has also pursued further education in cyber threat analysis, WIFI security, mobile security, and ICS-SCADA threat hunting, hacking, and defense.
